As you can see by the photos, Stray Cat Corpora found some of the best spots to relax in our F-150 (0f course, my lap was taken by Kismet). Here, he sleeps by my feet, on the floor of the passenger front...
We spent one night at Chris' brother's Pat's home in Durham. There, we got to spend quality time with Pat, his wife, Debbie, & their two daughters, Meghan & Angela. We had a big fabulous Italian dinner, yum yum, & later in the evening, Chris' brother, Rick, came over for drinks & b.s. All-in-all a wonderfully traditional Italian gathering of family & food. Yum Yum!
Sadly, Pat & Angela are both allergic to cats, so our two kitties stayed in the garage for our visit to NC, while Zoe became the princess of their beautiful house, getting a ton of attention from everyone.
We left NC on Thursday around 12 or so. Within an hour of heading south our AC began to clunk out on us. As the outside air got from 85 to suddenly 95 to immediately 103 degrees, the AC went from ice cold, to cool, to "is this f'n thing working?". Clearly, it was broken. We had all the windows open, & all the pets were panting... A scary sight, I had never seen cats pant before. We kept putting water on each animal, but the outside air was so hot, we didn't think it was doing much. Plus, Chris & I were getting increasingly uncomfortable, too, so we knew we could not continue on in the heat.
We pulled over somewhere in Georgia, or maybe we were very south in South Carolina, I am not really sure as it was so hot my brain is fuzzy on it. Regardless, we found a cheap pet-friendly hotel, got a room, cranked the AC, & relaxed for a few hours. Chris went out to get some fluid for the AC in hopes that that is all it needed. (Of course, he was wrong, the darn thing was clearly busted!).
Here is our dear 14 year old, Kismet, relaxing, happy to get out of the hot & sweaty truck... Doesn't he look so f'n sad & miserable? Like, "Ma, what the hell are you doing to me??"
Happy to report that the air got cooler, well, cool enough to continue our trek to Florida. We got back on the road at 8pm, & traveled through the night to arrive at our final destination, Ocala, Florida at 4:15am Friday morning.
Phew! What a trip...

Your cat is beautiful. :) I love the first pic. :) So cute.
So did you every figure out why the AC died? That really really sucks, especially during such a horrible heat wave. I am so glad you all made it safely to your destination!
Awww the kitties are so sweet.
I'm sorry the ride down wasn't very nice with the heat being so intense and no AC. Thats just awful!
I'm so glad you made it and that the NC visit was really good.
Stay Cool!
Oh No! That's horrible about the A/C! Hopefully it's all fixed now.
Aww sorry about all the mishaps. So glad you got there safely and that I got to see you before your long trip. Miss you already!!!!
Is it really pathetic that I had to look this up?

Jules, LOL, you could have just asked me... for the longest time one of my great gal pals at my old job in NJ ended e-mails with it, and about three years ago, I finally asked her what it meant! LOL...
